About the Artist

My name is Margaret Howard and I trained at University as a Biochemist eventually gaining a PhD in haematological biochemistry. I spent some 20 years as a medical researcher in Melbourne Australia and enjoyed this career enormously. I then retired from medical research to help my husband develop a software company selling software which he and his team of software engineers had written. This company is now in its 17th year and continues to trade successfully.

Throughout this time I have always had a keen interest in many craft activities. When my children were growing up this often took the form of making clothes and dress-ups for them. However once the children no longer needed my sewing services I began exploring other crafts and have enjoyed card making, embroidery, crocheting and knitting, book binding and many other crafts.

I then went to a felt making class and I was hooked. I loved the simplicity and magic of the process and the speed with which a piece of felt can be made. However once I had a piece of felt I needed to do something with it and through a process of trial and error I started embroidering and beading my felt and have slowly developed a collection of pieces of which I am very proud and which I now offer for sale though my store.

Please feel free to browse the gallery and my store. I will be delighted to have your comments which you can send to me at my contact address. I look forward to hearing from you.
